All At Sea
04:14
|

Cold are the mornings of the tenth month this year.
Distant the memories of her voice in my ear.
Speaking in metaphors I am all at sea.
She sleeps in darkness so who's safeguarding me.
Rough are the waters to warmer shores.
She'd be my respite, my port in a storm.
Long are the nights and short are the days.
She would be waiting if I had my way.
But I don't today.
When you need it most, a lighthouse.
A floating boy, a blue flare in the sky.
There is no safety like the one that I know.
You have to take risks, let yourself go.
Enough of the metaphors and the stupid songs.
When you find something real you have to hold on.

Sentimental
02:46
|

I pitched an idea in the shape of a heart.
You swung your bat and smashed in out of the park.
Well if you're sentimental then that's what you'll get.
I should've seen it coming I guess.
I mis-read signals that you gave me there.
Like when you kissed me, ran your hands through my hair.
Well if you're sentimental then that's what you'll get.
I must have had it coming I guess.
And it feels so long since university.
We were quite young but we were far from free.
I have no problems, just insecurities.
I was sentimental and that's what I got.
I tried to play it cool but you showed me I'm not.
I swear this doesn't happen a lot.
I tried to tell you for the good of my health.
But I got tongue-tied made a fool of myself.
Well if you're sentimental then that's what you'll get.
I should've seen it coming I guess.
You tried to tell me we were friends all along.
Now I'm left wondering how I got it so wrong.
Well if you're sentimental then that's what you'll get.
I must have had it coming I guess.
And it feels so long, since you talked to me.
And then you call in an hour of need.
Just first world problems and insecurities.
If you're sentimental you're right out of luck.
If you're sentimental you're stuck.

The Blue Lagoon

Well it's true I took the last one here and I'll probably take the next one too.
It doesn't make it less beautiful and that's as clear as the water is blue.
They closed the quarry years ago and now it's local history.
I've heard people curse in pubs about the death of the industry.
Why would you quarry anyway when you could always sell antiques?
Throw a stone and watch the ripples grow. That's a memory you can keep.
When the summer rolls in we'll climb the fence and swim.
Trespassing's fine if you ignore the warning signs.
You will never be here when the rain falls on the water I will make sure while I'm near.
I know you haven't been sleeping well.
If I could give a gift to you I'd take your worries like a stone and throw them in the Blue Lagoon.
When the summer rolls in we'll climb the fence and swim.
Trespassing's fine if you ignore the warning signs.
You will never be here when the rain falls on the surface of the water I will make sure I'm near.
Throw your troubles away in the Blue Lagoon.
Wash your worries away in the Blue Lagoon.

Believe Yourself
03:29
|

Ever been on the end of unrequitement? I guess you have.
Just one piece of good news could lift you out the blues. You've got it bad.
Who needs possessions? They are not your friends so give them up.
You are not your haircut. You are not your clothes. Believe yourself.
Please don't change anything.
You can achieve everything. Believe yourself.
I've been on the end of unrequitement too many times.
I never got good news and I've really got the blues. It's my only vice.
The realisation, it almost floored me. You'd given up.
I wish you hadn't, I wish you'd stay but your mind's made up.
Please don't change anything.
You can achieve everything. Believe yourself.
